Guérin David
I am a French self-taught illustrator artist, born in 1991 on Réunion Island.
I work mainly with graphite pencil and charcoal, traditional mediums which offer great freedom of expression and a vast range of possibilities, they allow me to explore the richness of textures and contrasts.
My work deals with spiritual subjects and addresses themes such as human consciousness, the mysteries of the soul and metaphysical questions. My drawings are often introspective and intimate reflecting my own experience of the world as a man on his path to awakening. I try to evoke thoughts and engage the viewer in an inner dialogue through the use of symbols and metaphors by depicting characters.
My artistic approach is guided by a deep quest for meaning on existential subjects to which everyone can relate. Philosophy and psychology are great sources of inspiration, as well as music, my greatest passion as a musician myself, also influences the themes I address in my work. It helps me explore emotions, evoke memories, and tell stories. She plays a key role in my creative process.
I firmly believe that art allows us to transcend the boundaries of our material reality to touch the deepest aspects of our being.
